World marathon bronze medallist Ethiopian Tadese Tola....

 

World marathon bronze medallist Ethiopian Tadese Tola (2:07:16) broke the course record set 25 years ago by compatriot Abebe Mekonnen to win the Beijing Marathon today.

In the women's Beijing marathon, Ethiopians Makda Harun Haji and Yeshimebet Tadesse finished second and third respectively.  And somewhere in Amsterdam, Ethiopian Birhanu Girma (2:06:06) finished second at the Amsterdam Marathon today. Wilson Chebet of Kenya won the men's race in 2:05:36.
